Over 30 Years of Making Field Trips Fun

Established in 1987, Arkansas Outdoor School (AOS) is one of the longest running outdoor field trip destinations in the state.  We are located 10 miles west of Little Rock at the C.A. Vines Center.   • All classes are taught implementing the 4-H Youth Development Life Skills.
  • Program options include, but are not limited to: canoeing, archery, fishing, rock climbing, Arkansas wildlife, nature photography, water ecology, discovery hike, team challenge and more.

Day Program:

1 to 3 activities is $20 per youth if you bring lunch OR $25.00 per youth if you have lunch in our cafeteria.  It is $11 per adult if you bring lunch OR $16 per adult if you have lunch in our cafeteria.

4 to 5 activities is $23.50 per youth if you bring your lunch OR $28.50 per youth if you have lunch in our cafeteria.  It is $11 per adult if you bring your lunch OR $16 or adult if you have lunch in our cafeteria.

Saturday Program:

A Saturday with up to 5 activities and lunch, is $28.50 per youth and $16 per adult.

Overnight Program:

A typical youth overnight program with 6 classes, four meals, and lodging, is $95 per youth and $70 for adults.

In the event that your visit to AOS is canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, groups will be given the option of rescheduling, a full refund, or donating to the program. We hope that you and your loved ones remain healthy through this difficult time! 

COVID precautions will be based on the most up-to-date guidance from the AR Department of Health, the CDC, and the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. Our goal is to keep our students, their families, and our staff healthy.

  • 9:00- 9:15 Program Orientation
  • 9:15-10:30 Class #1
  • 10:30-11:45 Class #2
  • 11:45-12:15 Lunch
  • 12:15-1:30 Class #3
  • 1:30-2:45 Class #4
  • 2:45-3:00 Program Closing

Day 1

  • 10:30-11:30 Arrival and Orientation
  • 11:30-12:00 Lunch
  • 12:00-1:30 Class #1
  • 1:30-3:00 Class #2
  • 3:00-3:20 Break/Snack
  • 3:20-4:50 Class #3
  • 4:50-5:00 Evening Orientation
  • 5:00-5:30 Check into Rooms
  • 5:30-6:15 Dinner 6:15- Evening Option* (Camp fire, skits, movie, group games, etc.)

Day 2

  • 8:00-8:30 Breakfast
  • 8:30-10:00 Class #4
  • 10:00-11:30 Class #5
  • 11:30-12:00 Lunch
  • 12:00-1:30 Class #6
  • 1:30-2:00 Program Closing
